Solutions for handling and freight optimisation in railway technology
Foresight pays off. Those who want to expand market share in the transport industry must act with foresight. Recognising technological opportunities in good time is tomorrow’s success. New ideas are in demand. Based on individual challenges, Wecon develops special solutions for handling and freight optimisation. With digitally supported manufacturing, precise and to the point. Exactly suitable for customers such as Transant, ÖBB, Rail Cargo Austria or even DB Cargo.
See the DB freight wagon concept “Project m2“, for quick changing and loading of the superstructure. Or the horizontal handling system “ContainerMover” for InnovaTrain – directly on the track and without a crane. Plus the “container docking stations” for seamless tractor changes. By the way: Wecon’s award-winning mega container “Imperator Ultra” weighs only 4,200 kg at 45 feet. This payload advantage is also appreciated by intermodal transport.
Deutsche Bahn/Project m2
Modular and multifunctional. With globalisation, freight transport is growing. The cycle is getting faster, the flow of goods more complex. At the same time, human resources are decreasing. This means reacting quickly and flexibly. How DB Cargo works with the m2 carrying wagon concept. This is where the sliding tarpaulin body from Wecon really packs a punch.
Stable yet as smooth as a curtain, it can be operated by one person in no time at all. More. The side-mounted sliders guarantee the maximum loading width of the trolley. In addition, the wide opening offers plenty of space for loading and unloading everything from paper coils to palletised goods. That pays off quickly. Also for freight forwarders and logistics companies.
Deutsche Bahn/Timber FLU for m2
Timber-Safe. It is not only after storm events that the long-distance sale of timber by rail is fast, environmentally friendly and cost-effective. This pays off in closed-loop transport with sawmills: roundwood in the form of logs goes there, sawnwood comes back for the onward journey. The processing industry also demands higher volumes of wood in ever shorter cycles. Here, they are increasingly relying on effective rail transport. The pioneer, DB Cargo, thought ahead and took up the challenge.
He grabbed Wecon by its passion for optimising the load space of commercial vehicles. The “Timber Freightrail Loading Unit (FLU)” was developed as a robust workhorse based on the m2 carrying wagon concept. Thanks to its stability, the wagon pulls more than 65 tonnes of wooden payload safely over the tracks. Instead of a maximum of 19.60 m, the body allows a loading length of 22.64 m. Variable stanchions and stool adjust exactly to the load and offer 2.65 m loading width. Over 15 percent volume gain per trip. If that’s not a good cut!
Rail Cargo Group/TransANT
Powerful lightweight. The ant was the model for the transport properties of the TransANT. RCG’s modular trolley, for example, has a strong deadweight advantage: it weighs around 20 per cent less than usual. This allows for significantly more payload, which it can easily carry over long distances. At the same time, the TransANT shines with low traction costs, saves energy and infrastructure usage fees.
The standardised platform is available in seven lengths – from 33 to 70 feet. Modular superstructures, also in lightweight construction, tailored to different industries, make the TransANT universally applicable. It is also cheap to produce. It is worthwhile to purchase several modules at once. In order to be able to react to different goods requirements in the shortest possible time.
InnovaTrain/ContainerMover
Horizontal handling technology. Together with the Swiss inventor and partner InnovaTrain, Wecon has developed “ContainerMover” for intermodal transport. The easy-to-use system allows loading between road and rail in a matter of minutes.
Cost-effectively installed next to the railway tracks, it quickly and safely accommodates swap bodies as well as ISO containers. Compared to classic crane loading, each transhipment costs only a third. Rail transport already pays off from 60 kilometres.
